INFINITE GOALS AND SCHIAPARELLI

This week, I discovered a new podcast called Brendawareness. I had been binge-listening to episodes of The Cutting Room Floor and was looking for something different. In the first episode of Brendawareness, Brenda discusses the concept of finite versus infinite goals. Finite goals have a set endpoint; you work towards them, reach a significant conclusion, and then they are complete. In contrast, infinite goals have no end date; you continuously strive toward them without a definitive conclusion. In this episode, she implies that we should replace all finite goals with infinite goals, but I would argue that finite goals can be used as checkpoints for larger infinite goals.

My first infinite goal is to have more ‘money can’t buy’ experiences, a concept that Brenda also discusses in this podcast episode (I can’t get over her casually mentioning that Rick Owens got her flowers for her birthday, I’m so insanely jealous).

During this fortnight, we had the opportunity to witness the 2024 Fall Couture Week, highlighted by the highly anticipated Schiaparelli show by Daniel Roseberry. And a show we got. Roseberry delivered a masterclass in designing for the female form, commenting that “There’s a real embracing of the body this time around”, specifically paying homage to the 1950s silhouette. My personal favourite was look 4 (images two and three), as he sculpted the dress into a flawless hourglass shape. Additionally, the mega-viral feather dress (image one) representing the phoenix - the shows mascot - was unforgettable.
